SynerGen Solar and EPCOR USA Forge Partnership for Major Solar Project in New Mexico

Renewable energy firm and regional utility announced a strategic collaboration on Tuesday to undertake a project with a targeted capacity of up to 90 megawatts (MW) in eastern .

The joint venture entails the preparation of approximately 485 acres of land owned by EPCOR near the city of Clovis for the development of the solar site, which will be constructed and owned by SynerGen. According to a press release, the generated output will be seamlessly integrated into the New Mexico power grid.

As part of the agreement, EPCOR will benefit from renewable energy credits generated by the future facility, enabling the offsetting of carbon emissions associated with its entire Clovis operations. Additionally, EPCOR stands to gain leasing revenue from the project for a minimum period of 25 years.

Upon completion, the envisaged solar farm is projected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 17,000 homes, significantly contributing to the region's renewable energy objectives.

The timeline for the project's operationalization is contingent upon successful interconnection studies and permitting reviews, with a target date set for 2031.
