Axpo Holding AG, a leading Swiss renewable energy producer and trader, has sealed a landmark agreement with Western Australia-based Infinite Green Energy (IGE) for the collaborative development of a 30-megawatt (MW) green hydrogen project in Italy.
The strategic partnership, delineated in the agreement between the two entities, lays out key terms and milestones crucial for progressing towards a final investment decision (FID) for the Valle Peligna Hydrogen Project located in Abruzzo.

Planned to be situated within the industrial precinct of the Abruzzo municipality of Corfinio, the envisioned facility will be powered by a 45-MW solar park, fueling a 30-MW electrolyser aimed at producing approximately 4,200 tonnes of hydrogen annually.
The primary objective of the project is to commence supplying green hydrogen to hard-to-abate industrial sectors and mobility applications within the region by the latter half of 2025. Moreover, there are discussions about incorporating a refuelling station and potentially expanding the project's reach to the Trans-European Transport Network (T-ETN).
