EDP Renovaveis SA, a leading renewable energy company, has announced the successful commissioning of the 21-MWp Monde de Vez solar park situated in central Portugal. This milestone marks a significant step towards bolstering Portugal's renewable energy infrastructure.
The Monde de Vez solar park, nestled alongside EDPR's 22.8-MW Sao Joao wind farm, has emerged as the company's second hybrid facility, according to parent company Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP), which disclosed the development on Monday.

Comprising 36,000 bifacial panels, the solar park is projected to churn out approximately 31.4 GWh of clean electricity annually. This, combined with the energy output from Sao Joao's 13 wind turbines, propels the entire facility to generate a total of 79 GWh of renewable energy per year, effectively catering to the energy needs of approximately 23,000 local families.
“We will continue to develop hybrid projects in Portugal and expect to implement another 700 MW in similar projects in the coming years,” remarked Hugo Costa, EDPR's head in Portugal, underlining the company's commitment to furthering sustainable energy initiatives in the region.
