Orsted A/S, the Danish renewable energy company, disclosed its forthcoming leadership transition as current board chair Thomas Thune Andersen steps down after a decade of service.
Orsted’s board of directors has recommended Lene Skole to assume the role of chair and Andrew Brown as the new deputy chair, subject to approval at the annual general meeting on March 5, 2024.
Skole, currently serving as deputy chair since 2015 and CEO of Lundbeckfonden, brings extensive experience in non-executive directorship to the position.
Brown, a seasoned veteran in the energy sector, most recently served as CEO of Portuguese energy company Galp SA and has been an Orsted board member since 2023.
The succession plan comes after a thorough evaluation process by the company’s nomination & remuneration committee, considering both internal and external candidates for the positions.
“I’ve worked closely with Lene over many years, and as I step down, I’m very happy that the evaluation of candidates has confirmed that Lene is best suited to take over as chair and take the recently announced business plan forward together with the rest of the board and the group executive team,” said Andersen.
The announcement also confirmed the re-election of Annica Bresky, Julia King, Peter Korsholm, and Dieter Wemmer as board members at the upcoming annual general meeting.
The transition is not expected to impact Orsted’s previous financial guidance for the financial year of 2024.
