Seatrium, in conjunction with consortium partner GE Vernova, has solidified a pivotal framework cooperation agreement with TenneT, a prominent European electricity transmission system operator. This agreement entails supplying three High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) electrical transmission systems for offshore wind farm projects in the Netherlands, boasting a combined capacity of 6GW.
Following Seatrium's successful bid, securing the contract to deliver the third 2GW HVDC system, slated to commence work on June 1, 2024, excitement is palpable within the industry. Valued at approximately €2 billion each, these projects mark a substantial contribution to TenneT's offshore grid acceleration program.

In the words of Samuel Wong, Seatrium's executive vice president for fixed platforms, “We are proud to partner with TenneT and GE to deliver this transformative offshore wind solution. This project underscores our commitment to helping our customers achieve their renewable energy goals by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions that help accelerate the energy transition.”
Wong further emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “With this latest project, Seatrium is currently working on five HDVC offshore converter platforms, creating a franchise for series-built opportunities in HVDCs to achieve greater synergies from project repeatability.”
Under the agreement, Seatrium assumes responsibility for the end-to-end execution of the HVDC Offshore Converter Platform, including engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and commissioning. This platform is hailed as the largest and most powerful of its kind in the industry, aligning perfectly with TenneT's ambitious goal of installing 40GW of offshore wind energy in the German and Dutch North Seas.
