Spanish independent power producer Grenergy has selected Ingeteam, a Spain-based energy conversion equipment specialist, as its technology partner for a monumental 1GW solar-plus-storage project in Chile.
Under the agreement, Ingeteam will supply solar and storage inverters, pre-integrated into transformer stations, offering a turnkey solution ready for installation. Additionally, the company will provide the control system and commissioning services for the inverters, transformer stations, and associated facilities.
Situated in Chile's Atacama desert, the Oasis de Atacama project stands as the world's largest storage project, slated to unfold in five phases. Upon completion in 2026, the project will boast an impressive solar capacity of 1GW alongside 4.1GWh of storage capacity.
Ingeteam's longstanding presence in Chile, spanning over a decade, underscores its expertise and readiness to contribute to the project's success. The company has previously supplied its technology to 68 solar power plants across the region.
Recently, Grenergy secured a significant power purchase agreement (PPA) for the fourth phase of the Oasis de Atacama project. This development will witness the addition of 260MW of new solar capacity, alongside 1.1GWh of storage capacity. Notably, the company also inked a PPA with an undisclosed “international utility with an investment-grade credit rating,” which will procure power generated from this phase of the project over a 15-year period.
