New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and Technologies Co., Ltd. have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly advance renewable energy and smart grid initiatives in . The agreement, signed by Pertamina NRE's Director of Projects & Operations, Norman Ginting, and Huawei Tech Investment's Head of Department of Digital Power Business, Jing Song, underscores a commitment to fostering technological innovation in smart grid systems, distributed generation, and digitalization.

Ginting expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “We hope that Huawei's experience in renewable energy technology can support Pertamina NRE's aspirations in developing a low-carbon business and energy transition.” The strategic partnership aims to propel advancements in renewable energy projects across Indonesia, with a specific focus on elevating Pertamina NRE's operational efficiency through digitalization and the implementation of smart grid applications.

Jing Song from Huawei emphasized the potential societal benefits of the collaboration, highlighting its contribution to national energy resilience through the adoption of clean energy and smart grid technologies. The collaborative effort involves in-depth studies, knowledge-sharing, and technical exploration related to mutually identified projects.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), underscored Pertamina's commitment to developing new renewable energy sources in alignment with the Net Zero Emission 2060 target. He stressed the significance of such collaborations in the renewable energy sector, emphasizing the need for both cooperative efforts and advanced technology.
