British energy storage specialist, Alcemi, has successfully obtained planning permission for the development of 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Scotland. The projects, developed in partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), include the 1-gigawatt/2-gigawatt-hour Rawhills Energy Storage facility in Coalburn, south of Glasgow, and the 500-megawatt/1,000-megawatt-hour Devilla Energy Storage site
