Orsted, BlueFloat Energy, and Renantis have submitted comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping and Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) screening reports for their 1000MW Stromar floating offshore wind farm. The project is strategically located approximately 50km east of Wick, Scotland.
The reports, delivered to the Marine Directorate and Aberdeenshire Council, provide a detailed overview of the onshore and offshore considerations for the development. The documents also outline the companies' commitment to responsible development, emphasizing strong environmental stewardship, community engagement, and a focus on maximizing the economic benefits for Scotland.

The HRA screening reports specifically identify key protected sites and species relevant to the Stromar development area. These reports present how impacts will be meticulously assessed in more detail during the subsequent stages of the project.
Nicholas Ritchie, the Project Director, expressed enthusiasm about reaching this significant milestone. He stated, “Submitting the scoping report signifies a major milestone on our journey towards delivering clean and renewable energy in Scotland. We are looking forward to working closely with local communities and all other stakeholders as Stromar progresses through the next stages of development, with a plan to contribute significantly to Scotland's green energy landscape.”

Looking ahead, the project team plans to schedule a series of community consultation events in spring 2024. These events aim to ensure that stakeholders are fully informed about the project and that their perspectives are taken into account during the site selection, design, and overall development phases.
