Indian engineering firm Gensol Engineering has secured a contract from Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd to construct a 33-MW solar park in Chhattisgarh, the central Indian state.
The contract, valued at INR 1.39 billion (USD 16.7 million/EUR 15.3 million), encompasses all engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) responsibilities for the photovoltaic (PV) park, which is slated to be operational within six months.
The solar installation will be situated at SEML's Kharora plant, a significant move by Gensol into Chhattisgarh's industrial landscape.
Ali Imran Naqvi, CEO of Gensol, commented on the development, stating, “Securing this project is not just a milestone for us but also an entry into the vast industrial landscape of Chhattisgarh. Known for its rich mineral deposits and burgeoning industrial sector, Chhattisgarh presents a dynamic market with immense potential for renewable energy integration.”
Gensol, boasting a team of over 240 employees, has successfully deployed over 600 MW of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV capacity since its establishment in 2012. Beyond solar EPC, the company has diversified its portfolio to include electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.
