PNM Granted Approval for 12 MW Battery Storage Projects in New Mexico

Public Service Company of (PNM), a subsidiary of utility Inc., has secured permission from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) to install 12 MW of systems (BESS).

The approved projects aim to address overloaded feeders at two sites in New Mexico, enhancing grid reliability and resilience.

The distribution-level battery storage facilities, costing around USD 26 million (EUR 23.7 million), will support the integration of additional renewable generation capacity.

PNM sees this initiative as a step towards meeting growing demand and ensuring a reliable grid during the ongoing clean energy transition. The commissioning of these battery storage systems is scheduled for the current year.
