Enercity AG, a German energy supplier, has obtained regulatory approval for the repowering and operation of a 44MW wind farm in the state of Brandenburg.
The project, located in the Oder-Spree district near the town of Beeskow, will involve the installation of eight turbines, replacing seven existing units. Greenwind, a German company, will collaborate with Enercity on the repowering initiative.
Under the project, Enercity will own and operate six of the eight turbines, while Greenwind will own the remaining two. Construction is scheduled to commence this year, with the repowered wind farm expected to be operational by the end of 2024. The annual output of 85 million kWh is anticipated to meet the electricity demand of approximately 34,000 homes.
Enercity, along with Alterric, is also seeking approval to add four additional turbines to the Beeskow wind farm, forming a 12-turbine complex.
The company envisions having over 2 gigawatts of installed wind power on land by 2030, generating around eight terawatt-hours to meet the electricity needs of approximately two million households, as stated by Enercity's CEO, Susanna Zapreva.
