Indian power company JSW Energy Ltd has successfully brought online 51 MW of onshore wind power capacity in the state of Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in its participation in the 2.5 GW tranche IX auction initiated by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI).
The newly commissioned capacity is part of an expansive 810-MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power project, for which JSW Energy secured the rights through the SECI auction. The company has a secured power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI, ensuring a 25-year commitment.

JSW Energy swiftly moved to solidify its position in the project, announcing a turbine delivery contract with the renewables unit of General Electric shortly after being awarded the capacity.
With the addition of this 51 MW, JSW Energy's current overall installed capacity has reached 6,822 MW. The company is actively advancing its pipeline of projects under construction, totaling 2,969 MW, with expectations to finalize these projects within the next 12 months.
The successful commissioning of the onshore wind capacity underscores JSW Energy's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and contributing to India's sustainable energy goals.
