has made significant strides towards a renewables-first economy with the opening of seven wind farms across Europe, with a total capacity of 250 MW. These projects, located in the UK, , Sweden, , and Poland, have a combined annual energy output that can power 250,000 homes, reduce carbon emissions by 270,000 tonnes, and offset the emissions of 150,000 fossil fuel cars.

Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation, said, “New green energy is absolutely essential to accelerate our shift to a renewables-first economy and wean ourselves off expensive fossil fuels. To make sure this energy crisis is the very last one, we can build our way out through cheap green power.”

Octopus Energy Generation currently manages £6 billion worth of renewable assets and energy translation projects globally and aims to achieve 20 GW of European green generation projects, enough to power 15 million homes. To this end, the company has been managing the construction of various renewable energy projects, including the recently opened wind farms.

Octopus Energy is also preparing to take its innovative ‘Fan Club' model global. This model provides consumers with cheaper energy when it's windy, enabling them to take advantage of the abundance of wind energy.

Onshore wind energy is an important part of Europe's energy security strategy, with the European Union aiming to more than double Europe's wind capacity. Octopus Energy's latest wind farm projects align with this goal and contribute to the continent's energy security, as well as help reduce energy bills for consumers.

The seven onshore wind farms brought online by Octopus Energy since 2022 include the 50 MW Cumberhead wind farm in Scotland, the 22.4 MW Biebelnheim-Gabsheim wind farm in Germany, the 9 MW Berceronne wind farm and 24 MW Cerisou wind farm in France, the 86 MW Rodene wind farm in Sweden, and the 19 MW Krzecin and 40 MW Kuslin wind farms in Poland.

The Cumberhead wind farm has a Power Purchase Agreement with Kimberly-Clark, which supplies around 80 percent of their UK electrical power needs. The Rodene wind farm has a PPA in place with France-based Faurecia, a company of FORVIA Group, the world's 7th largest automotive tech company. The Krzecin and Kuslin wind farms are both managed by Octopus on behalf of Octopus Renewables Trust (ORIT).

Octopus Energy's commitment to renewable energy and their innovative solutions like the ‘Fan Club' model can pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future. As North-Bond puts it, “We've got big plans to invest in lots more” and continue driving the transition towards a renewables-first economy.
