Voltalia has initiated the production phase of its 140MW solar project situated in the Fier district of southern Albania. The Karavasta power plant is designed to generate electricity equivalent to the consumption needs of approximately 220,000 people.
Voltalia emphasizes that the entire capacity of the solar plant is underpinned by long-term power purchase contracts with both public and private entities. Sébastien Clerc, Chief Executive of Voltalia, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in bringing the project to fruition, including the Albanian Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Voltalia teams.
The Karavasta project contributes to Albania's renewable energy goals and represents a significant step toward achieving sustainable and clean power generation.
Voltalia's commitment to long-term power purchase agreements ensures the project's economic viability while supporting the broader objectives of the Albanian government's energy strategy.
