MET Group's inaugural solar park in Spain, the 50MW Puerto Real 3 facility, has commenced commercial operations, signaling a significant milestone for the Swiss-based energy company.
The newly operational solar park spans 130 hectares and boasts more than 88,000 solar panels. MET Group acquired full ownership of the Spanish project, already in a ready-to-build state, in 2022. Positioned in the Andalusia region, renowned for its abundant solar irradiation levels, Puerto Real 3 contributes to the region's growing renewable energy landscape.
With over seven years of presence in Spain through its local subsidiary, MET Energía España, MET Group continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The company presently manages six solar power plants in Hungary and two wind farms in Bulgaria. Beyond its current operational assets, MET Group is actively engaged in various projects in Italy, Germany, Romania, Poland, and Switzerland.
Christian Hürlimann, the Renewables CEO of MET Group, highlighted the firm's commitment to green energy, stating, “The green asset portfolio now consists of around 400MW in operation, including the Puerto Real 3 project we have just completed. MET's Green Assets Division is focusing in particular on solar and wind power in Europe.”
