The HSI consortium, which comprises , Smulders, and , has secured a contract from German grid operator 50Hertz to engineer, procure, construct, and install (EPCI) the platforms for the Gennaker offshore wind farm. The wind farm, which will be located in the Baltic Sea, will have a total capacity of 927MW and will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in the region when operational.

As part of the deal, the consortium will design and construct jackets for Gennaker 1 (West) and 2 (East). The team is already working on the engineering of these platforms.

This is the second contract awarded by 50Hertz to the HSI consortium, following the Ostwind 3 High Voltage AC-platform (300MW) and its jacket deal last year.

According to 50Hertz, the wind farm will produce enough clean energy to power over one million households and reduce CO2 emissions by 1.8 million tonnes annually.

“We are delighted to have awarded this contract to the HSI consortium, which has a proven track record of delivering complex offshore projects,” said , 50Hertz's Head of Offshore Projects. “We are confident that the consortium will deliver the Gennaker offshore wind farm on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.”
