Dominion Energy Inc has announced the successful commencement of operations for the Dry Bridge Energy Storage project, a 20-MW/80-MWh facility located in Chesterfield County, south of Richmond.
Representing the largest battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the project is poised to provide power to approximately 5,000 homes during peak output. Services to customers commenced on December 7, marking Dominion's inaugural utility-scale, stand-alone energy storage facility.
Acquired from developer East Point Energy in September 2021, the Dry Bridge site signifies Dominion Energy's commitment to advancing clean and reliable energy solutions for its customer base. The project's completion aligns with the company's strategic initiatives in sustainable energy development.
