Enercon Secures Contract for Wind Turbines in Port of Trelleborg’s Green Energy Initiative

's GmbH has finalized an agreement to supply two 2.35-MW wind turbines for 's Port of Trelleborg as part of the port's green shore powering project, as announced on Friday.

The contract encompasses the delivery of two E-82 E4 turbines, each with a capacity of 2.35 MW, along with a comprehensive maintenance service for the pair. These turbines are slated to be installed on 78-meter steel towers and will feature Enercon's rotor blade de-icing system. The installation is planned along the new 500-meter quay at the port, with commissioning expected around the turn of 2024-2025.

As part of the Port of Trelleborg's Green FIT 2025 initiative, co-financed by the EU, the wind turbines are anticipated to contribute approximately 15 GWh of electricity annually. The Port of Trelleborg aims to position itself as 's leading sustainable Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) port and has set a target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. Starting from 2030, all vessels docking at the port are mandated to connect to shore power.

Ulf Sonesson, Landlord at Port of Trelleborg, emphasized the environmental impact of this initiative, stating, “The new wind turbines, together with the Port of Trelleborg's own park of 2,200 square meters, will produce more green energy than we consume.”
