Dutch utility company Eneco has forged a significant alliance with leading supermarket chain Albert Heijn, sealing a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to deliver electricity from the forthcoming 760MW Ecowende offshore wind farm. Scheduled for operation in late 2026, the partnership aims to assist Albert Heijn in achieving 50% of its energy requirements by 2027.
Albert Heijn, known for its commitment to sustainability, has already achieved full climate neutrality across its stores, distribution centers, and offices by transitioning to 100% Dutch wind power in early 2021.
