Invenergy has successfully acquired a promising renewable energy transmission project in New Jersey from Blackstone Infrastructure Partners. Formerly known as Atlantic Power Transmission, the early-stage project has now been rebranded as Jersey Link. Blackstone Infrastructure Partners is set to continue its support for the project as it progresses.
Jersey Link, positioned as a scalable High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission link, assumes significance in light of New Jersey's ambitious goal to incorporate 11 gigawatts of offshore wind into its grid by 2040. The project has the capacity to integrate up to 3600 megawatts of offshore wind, contributing significantly to the state's renewable energy objectives.
Senior Project Director for Jersey Link, Robert Taylor, emphasized Invenergy's steadfast commitment to bolstering the essential infrastructure needed to advance offshore wind and transmission goals in New Jersey and the broader United States. He highlighted the wealth of experience within Invenergy's team, ensuring that Jersey Link will efficiently deliver offshore wind power to the shore, invest in coastal and inland communities, and foster workforce development opportunities throughout the state.
This acquisition aligns with the state's strategic vision for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future, emphasizing the crucial role of private sector collaboration in achieving these ambitious renewable energy targets.
