, a Group company, has inked a significant contract with N-Sea to supply a comprehensive suite of equipment designed to facilitate the repair and laying of offshore cables. The UK-based company emphasized the system's adaptability to support various cable specifications and its robustness for repeated and swift deployment on diverse vessels of opportunity.

Osbit's supplied equipment comprises a dual concentric carousel, a tower featuring loading arms, and a power and control cabin designed for ergonomic efficiency. Notably, the carousel stands out as the world's first DNV-approved dual concentric modular system for cable repair, capable of simultaneously processing two wires in a split basket arrangement. This innovation allows independent control of the two partitions, enabling different rotation speeds to ensure the laying of bundled products at the same linear speed or joined as a larger single basket for repairing or laying AC export lines and inter-array AC connections.

The engineering, construction, and installation of Osbit's system are set to take place in , the , under the supervision of the company's skilled engineers. Delivery is scheduled for the early second quarter of 2024.

Dale McDonald, Operations Manager for Subsea Cables at N-Sea, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “We are very pleased to be working with Osbit on this important and innovative equipment. The equipment further demonstrates N-Sea's commitment to providing a robust and quality service for subsea cable repairs and installation.”

Jurgen Zijlmans, General Manager of Osbit in the Netherlands, conveyed his pride in securing the design and build contract within a short timeframe since Osbit's Netherlands entity became operational. Zijlmans emphasized the project's significance in advancing cable repairs and contributing to a more renewable and sustainable future. He stated, “We're delighted that the N-Sea team trusts in our vast cable installation experience to deliver such a milestone project, and we're excited to deliver the completed system in Rotterdam next year as Osbit continues to significantly expand our local support in the Netherlands.”
