Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has clinched a Letter of Award (LOA) for the development of a 200-MW hybrid renewables project, following a successful bid in a multi-technology scheme. The LOA, granted by Indian utility SJVN Limited, marks a significant milestone for TPREL in the realm of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects.
FDRE projects are designed to provide a continuous and dispatchable power supply, playing a crucial role in assisting distribution companies in fulfilling their renewable purchase obligations and energy storage commitments.
TPREL's 200-MW project is strategically configured as a hybrid mix, incorporating solar, wind, and battery storage elements to meet the stringent requirements of FDRE. This accomplishment represents TPREL's inaugural success in a FDRE tender. Notably, the tender includes a greenshoe option, allowing for additional capacity beyond the initial 200 MW, providing flexibility for potential expansion, the renewables company reported.
The anticipated timeline for the commissioning of the hybrid facility is set at 24 months from the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA). The move aligns with Tata Power Renewable Energy's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to India's ambitious renewable energy targets.
