The owner of the 400MW Bard Offshore 1 (BO1) wind farm, Ocean Breeze Energy, has inked a five-year extension to its service agreement with Wind Multiplikator, extending the partnership until the close of 2030, effective from January 1, 2026.
Ocean Breeze Energy, responsible for the ownership and operation of BO1 situated off the German coast, has collaborated with Wind Multiplikator since the wind farm's construction in the German North Sea. The project, comprising 80 turbines with a capacity of 5MW each, was successfully completed by the Bard Group in 2013.
Following its inception, Offshore Wind Solutions (OWS), a spin-off from the Bard Group and now a part of Wind Multiplikator since June 2023, has been at the forefront of providing operational and maintenance (O&M) as well as repair services for the wind farm.
In 2019, Macquarie Group acquired Ocean Breeze Energy from Unicredit, solidifying the financial landscape surrounding the venture.
The expanded service and maintenance agreement encompass troubleshooting and routine maintenance of the wind turbines. Additionally, it includes all-encompassing tasks such as major component exchanges, involving the utilization of heavy-lift vessels and the overhaul of significant components at the onshore site in Emden.
The collaboration between Ocean Breeze Energy and Wind Multiplikator underscores the commitment to sustaining the operational efficiency and longevity of the Bard Offshore 1 wind farm. The extension of this service agreement reinforces the strategic alliance between the two entities, ensuring continued effective offshore wind operations in the years to come.
