Danish solar enterprise Nordic Solar A/S provided an update on its 100-megawatt peak (MWp) solar undertaking in eastern Lithuania today, revealing that construction is progressing and the site is anticipated to be operational in the first half of 2024.
Situated in Moletai, approximately 60 kilometers from the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, the facility is set to accommodate over 150,000 solar panels affixed to Nordic Solar's exclusive steel structures designed to enhance energy production from the rear of the collectors.
Nordic Solar identifies the Moletai installation as Lithuania's most extensive solar park to date, with expectations that it will generate sufficient electricity to supply approximately 28,000 homes upon full commissioning.
The company has been actively engaged in advancing Lithuania's solar infrastructure, having initiated construction on two solar parks this year alone, boasting a combined anticipated capacity of 180 MWp. Furthermore, Nordic Solar is poised to commence construction on an additional 60-MWp site before the conclusion of 2023.
With a current presence in nine European countries, Nordic Solar presently operates solar parks boasting a collective capacity of approximately 390 MWp. The company also maintains a robust portfolio of planned development projects, totaling nearly 1.6 gigawatts.
