RWE Secures 119MW in French Onshore Wind Contracts in Latest Bidding Round

RWE, in collaboration with its partners, has successfully secured contracts for 119MW (80MW pro-rata) in the latest wind power bidding round conducted by the French regulator. The Commission for the Regulation of Energy recently published the results of the call to tender for onshore wind power (AO 13), allocating a cumulative capacity of 931MW at an average price of €86.94/MWh.

Out of the awarded projects, five were granted to German developer RWE, marking a gross capacity of 119MW and a pro-rata share of 80MW. Among these, three projects are exclusively under RWE's control, while the remaining two will be jointly developed in partnership with Vent du Nord and David Energies/Energiter.

Across 13 onshore wind power tenders in France, RWE secured a total capacity of 384MW, positioning itself as the third most awarded company in this round.

RWE plans to deploy a total of 37 turbines across the five winning projects, spanning four different regions: Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, Pays de la Loire, and . Construction for the first sites could commence by the end of 2024, with operations expected to begin no earlier than 2025.
