Spanish solar energy developer Alter Enersun has successfully commissioned two solar farms in Extremadura, western Spain, bolstering its operational capacity by approximately 24 MWp in the region.
The investments, totaling around EUR 18.5 million, mark a significant stride in the company's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
The first facility, a 12.16-MWp solar farm located in Barcarrota, required an investment of approximately EUR 10 million (USD 10.9m). The second, an 11.98-MWp plant situated in Jerez de los Caballeros, saw Alter Enersun investing EUR 8.5 million. Together, these solar farms are projected to generate around 47 GWh of electricity annually, meeting the consumption needs of over 13,000 households.
Alter Enersun has prioritized investments in Extremadura, where ongoing construction of additional solar projects is underway. In the past two years, the company successfully commissioned three solar farms, with the recent additions further solidifying its presence in the region. The expansion aligns with Alter Enersun's broader commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in Spain.
