OEG Offshore Strengthens Subsea Cable Services with Acquisition of Pelagian

, a leading global provider of cargo-carrying units and A60 modules to the offshore energy industry, has announced the acquisition of , a UK-based consultancy, engineering, and installation services provider for the subsea industry. The move will allow OEG to strengthen its position in the sector and expand its services to multiple end markets, including telecommunications, interconnectors, and offshore wind.

Pelagian, which has been in business for over 20 years, offers support throughout the entire wire construction process, from initial feasibility studies to route engineering, risk mitigation, permit acquisition and stakeholder liaison, route survey, installation project management, system testing and acceptance to through-life operations and maintenance. The company, which employs 13 people and manages a global pool of contractors, will retain its name, and its managing director Peter Fisk will continue in his role.

The acquisition will enable OEG to tap into Pelagian's extensive experience in the subsea cable industry, which is expected to play a crucial role in the offshore renewables sector. OEG Offshore chief executive expressed his excitement about the acquisition, saying that Pelagian's expertise would be invaluable to the company as it continues to expand its services in the sector. He added that the acquisition was a strategic move for the company, and he looked forward to working with Pelagian to provide innovative and reliable subsea cable solutions to clients.

Fisk echoed Heiton's sentiments, noting that Pelagian had one of the most experienced cable consulting teams globally and would be a valuable addition to the OEG Group. He also expressed his optimism about the future, saying that as Pelagian approached its 20th anniversary, he looked forward to exciting growth as part of the OEG team.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic moves by OEG Offshore, which has been expanding its services in the offshore renewables sector. The company has a global presence, with operations in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, and provides a wide range of equipment and services to the offshore energy industry. With the acquisition of Pelagian, OEG Offshore is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory and provide innovative solutions to clients in the sector.
