Turkish renewables developer Dost Enerji has successfully secured EUR 36.1 million (USD 39.5m) in financing from Garanti BBVA, the Turkish unit of Spanish lender BBVA, for its 50-MW Isiklar wind project in Turkey. The funding marks a strategic move for Garanti BBVA, increasing its financed installed wind power capacity from 185 MW to 235 MW.
Dost Enerji, which acquired the Isiklar project from the UK's RES Group last year, plans to utilize the funds to advance the wind initiative, also known as the Galatya project.
Comprising eight Nordex wind turbines, including four with a capacity of 5.9 MW and four with 6.8 MW capacity, the Isiklar/Galatya wind farm is on track to be commissioned in 2024, according to information available on Dost Enerji's website.
The financing agreement underscores the growing momentum in Turkey's renewable energy sector and positions Dost Enerji to contribute significantly to the country's clean energy goals.
