Australian construction and engineering firm Cimic Group has successfully energized its 130-megawatt peak (MWp) Glenrowan solar park in Victoria, marking a key milestone in the project's timeline.
The photovoltaic (PV) farm, located near Glenrowan in northern Victoria, generated its first power on November 21, with grid connection and services agreements established with the Victorian transmission network operator (AusNet) and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
Commissioned by Cimic's subsidiary, Pacific Partnerships, the Glenrowan solar park is poised to achieve full production capacity by the end of March 2023. The facility is anticipated to generate approximately 260 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, providing electricity for around 45,000 Australian homes. The renewable energy output will be sold under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Victorian government.
Cimic Group acquired the Glenrowan project from developer ESCO Pacific in the summer of 2022. The successful realization of the solar park underscores Cimic's commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure in Australia, contributing to the country's transition towards sustainable and clean power sources.
