French renewable power producer Voltalia SA has successfully commissioned its 3.7-MW Montclar solar photovoltaic (PV) park situated in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of southeastern France. The newly operational plant, located in the Montclar commune of the Alpes de Haute Provence department, features 8,400 panels spanning an area of 4.2 acres.
Voltalia initiated construction of the Montclar solar project in March of the previous year, employing an innovative metal structure to adapt to the site's mountainous topography characterized by steep slopes. The solar park's annual output is anticipated to cater to the electricity needs of over 2,500 inhabitants in the region.
The project secured its position through a domestic tender organized by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). The completion of the Montclar solar park represents another milestone for Voltalia in expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
The Montclar commune, known for hosting one of France's renowned ski resorts, stands as a testament to the diverse locations chosen for renewable energy projects, emphasizing the adaptability of innovative technologies in challenging terrains. Voltalia's commitment to advancing solar energy infrastructure aligns with the broader objectives of transitioning to cleaner and sustainable energy sources.
