Solar energy developer Emeren Group announced on Thursday the successful sale of a 410 MW portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Italy to Matrix Renewables, a global renewables platform.
This transaction is a continuation of the existing development service agreement (DSA) established earlier this year between the two parties, aiming to realize up to 1,500 MW of BESS projects in Italy. Matrix Renewables had previously accepted the first group of BESS projects, exceeding 260 MW, as part of this collaboration.
The recently completed sale includes five standalone BESS projects, boasting a combined capacity of 3,787 MWh. All projects are situated in the Apulia region of Italy.
Emeren Group anticipates these projects to achieve the ready-to-build status by late 2024. The development signifies a significant stride in the partnership's efforts to contribute to Italy's growing battery energy storage market.
