Ampyr Solar Europe and Multiplex have inked a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the Northwold Solar PV Generating Station, a solar project located in Norfolk, East England. Under the agreement, Ampyr will construct and operate the solar farm, with full operational status expected by the end of 2024. The facility is anticipated to generate over 9,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy annually.
The PPA serves to provide Multiplex, a construction and development company, with a sustainable energy source for its construction sites and offices throughout the United Kingdom. This initiative aligns with Ampyr Solar Europe's broader goal of establishing itself as a leading European Independent Power Producer (IPP), boasting assets in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Steve Mason, Chief Commercial Officer at Ampyr Solar Europe, expressed pride in offering innovative PPA products that provide offtakers like Multiplex with the necessary price and supply certainty to achieve sustainability goals. The project signifies a step forward for Ampyr in contributing to the renewable energy landscape in the UK.
Multiplex's commitment to a PPA in 2021 laid the foundation for this deal, enabling the procurement of renewable electricity from the Northwold Solar PV Generating Station. By considering the energy from Northwold as additional, Multiplex ensures that its renewable energy procurement directly contributes to verifiable emission reduction and increased renewable energy production, thereby supporting the UK's national decarbonization objectives.
