Indian power producer SJVN has received notification of keen interest from the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to purchase electricity generated from their impressive 1,000-MW Bikaner solar project in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
In a significant development, UPCL has dispatched a Letter of Intent (LoI) seeking to acquire 200 MW of solar power from this under-construction facility, at a fixed tariff of INR 2.57 (equivalent to USD 0.031 or EUR 0.029) per kilowatt-hour. Both parties are in the process of finalizing a comprehensive Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), as indicated in an official statement released by SJVN on Tuesday.
The sprawling Bikaner project, sprawling across a vast expanse of 5,000 acres, is being developed by SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL). Notably, the electricity generated by this solar powerhouse is earmarked for allocation to government bodies, either directly or through Distribution Companies (DISCOMS).
Having commenced construction work at the beginning of this year, SJVN's Bikaner solar project is poised to make a substantial contribution to the region's renewable energy landscape.
