Investment manager Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has entered into a global framework agreement with China's Contemporary Amperex Technology, or CATL, for the procurement of more than 10 GWh of energy storage solutions. CATL disclosed this agreement on Tuesday, indicating that the deployment will occur over the course of the next five years.
Under this arrangement, CATL will handle the design, optimization, and supply of the energy storage solutions, which Quinbrook will utilize for its infrastructure projects and those of its portfolio companies across the US, the UK, and Australia. The primary goal of this partnership is to enable Quinbrook to meet the increasing demand for large-scale renewable energy supply projects, reflecting the industry's shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
Initial deliveries will include CATL's EnerC Plus outdoor container solution, designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. The partners are presently evaluating the first 1 GWh of deliveries for Australia and the UK.
Quinbrook is an established presence in the energy sector with a substantial portfolio comprising over 20 GW of energy storage projects in various stages of development. It's important to note that the company is already utilizing CATL's solutions at the Gemini solar-plus-storage complex near Las Vegas, Nevada, highlighting the ongoing collaboration to promote sustainable energy solutions and shape the global energy landscape.
