German utility company EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG has successfully inked a new power purchase agreement (PPA) to support its ambitious 960-MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm project, located in the North Sea waters of Germany.
The latest addition to the roster of He Dreiht's off-takers is Power and Air Condition Solution Management GmbH (PASM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. According to EnBW, PASM has secured the purchase of electricity from a 100-MW portion of the future wind farm for a substantial 15-year duration.
He Dreiht is a noteworthy subsidy-free wind energy initiative situated approximately 90 kilometers (55.9 miles) off the coast of Borkum Island and about 110 kilometers west of Heligoland.
Construction for this significant wind farm project is set to kick off in May 2024, with operational activities expected to commence by the end of 2025.
With this newly established PPA, PASM joins a list of esteemed corporate customers associated with the He Dreiht project, including prominent names like German railway company Deutsche Bahn AG, engineering and technology conglomerate Robert Bosch GmbH, specialty chemicals company Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVK), steel producer Salzgitter AG, and airport operator Fraport AG, which oversees the Frankfurt airport.
